Great if used right
Perfect left my daughter hair brush like new. I first took my time to use both tools to take out all hair residue and dust balls from the bristles every time the racking tool gets filled with hair clean it do not let the hair accumulate after each strike took me about 15 mins to do each brush because I did 2 brush cleanings. So first I need the dry method which was what I mentioned using both tools to get residue out than I used hot water to soak the brush just ran the water with the brush under the sink for 1 minute than proceeded to put hair shampoo and cleaned once again with both tools but this time scrubbing a bit more and also interchanging in between scrubbing under the water and scrubbing without. Once I was done I just soaked off all the water and placed it upside down as if to brush the hair in a dry place so all the water can drip and the brush begins to dry. Great product and shipping was fast.

I have owned and used the black one for many years and it works great and is very quick and easy to clean a hairbrush. I ordered this one for someone else, and it came with the other one which I have never used, but it looks like it would also be great for cleaning some types of brushes.

Jury is still out
I did like that each of these tools helped get between the bristles and clean all the hair product that builds up in my hair brush. But. . . I’m not sure each tool is going to hold up to a lot of cleanings. The metal ones teeth are pretty limber and flimsy and seems like the tines will be easily bent out of shape and the bristles on the brush will eventually bend and smoosh down. Time will tell. So new, they seemed to do a pretty good job but I don’t foresee then lasting very long as they appear flimsy.

The wooden handle wire brush cleaner works awesome. The black one you have to be careful. The cleaner comb on the handle will pop the bristles out. It catches the plastic at the top of the bristles.
